Forty-three foot vertical antennas have become very popular in recent years. However, on 160 Meters, these antennas have a very high reactance and high voltage at the antenna feedpoint. Tuning with an autotuner results in maximum
efficiency 80-10 Meters, but conditions at 160 Meters present a major challenge for most tuners. to get around this problem, the MFJ-2904 range extender is added at the base of the antenna to increase 160 Meter matching capabilities.
